:: Bharata Natyam - Sufi Kathak Jugalbandhi
..............................................................................................................
Priyadarsini Govind

Priya’s dancing began at age six when her mother Padma took her to a dance teacher called Usha. A childhood surrounded by religious rituals, recitation of the Hindu epics, and harikatha discourses moulded the dancer to internalise Indian culture. While Priyadarsini learnt Bharata natyam from Guru Swamimalai K Rajarathnam, exponent of the Vazhvoor School from the age of ten, she perfected her abhinayas under the watchful eye of Padma Bhushan recipient Guru Kalanidhi Narayanan. Priyadarsini imbibes the best of both her teachers. At 13, Priya realised that Bharatanatyam would be her life and soul. Priyadarsini Govind is considered to be a jewel among dancers and a delight to watch.

“Priyadarsini presents a statuesque dignity, magnificent stage presence, a piercingly moving experience striking the audience numb” says The Hindu newsapper.
